Pinzodirsen reduces the nuclear sequestration of toxic DMPK mRNA with splicing factors such as MBNL1 via steric blocking/relocation, or interferes with the secondary structure of CUG repeat RNA, instead of being cleaved by RNase H, thereby ameliorating systemic aberrant splicing in DM1. Pinzodirsen is applicable to the research of myotonic dystrophy.
